VERONA

  | Main | Rome | The Vatican | Siena | Florence | Pisa | Cinque Terra | Milan | Venice |

Forever associated with Romeo and Juliet, Verona has much more to offer than the relics of a strategic love story. The town was infested with tourist too but much cleaner than Florence. Due to large number of tourists, much of Verona has been commercialised towards tourism. Entrance to all churches, Juliet's house and tombs are charged with a considerable amount of money. I decided that i have seen enough of museums and churches and i should spend my money on trying Italian food instead. Also red wine was a must cos for the simple reason, Verona produces the best red wine in the world.

Verona has lots to offer with its opera theatre built inside an old arena, with its characteristics pink marble palaces, with a river always full of birds flowing around the town. It's not a wonder that Verona attracts many tourist even during this off-seasoned period.

Near Verona are the famous Dolomites with many great ski resorts and trekking routes but due to time constraints, we were not able to go up the mountains but only admire them on the train ride. Also, Between Brescia and Verona is Garda Lake, the largest lake in Europe. Me and Luke took a day trip to the Lake and had a wonderful time there walking along the "rocky beach". The lake was so big that it felt like an inland sea. the scenery was magnificent and I felt like staying there for a day but we simply couldn't afford the hotels there. It's one of the most expensive resort area in Italy.

Me skipping pebbles under the sun. Think I succeeded in skipping a pebble 7 times!

Outside Juliet's tomb with the wish tree saddled with tourists' wishes.

Garda Lake.

More proof of the scenic Garda Lake.

Can you see the Dolomites covered with snow and clouds far far behind? One day I'll be there!
